It’s Time To Tell Our Stories

“Share your story” was one of the themes of the morning as we celebrated the one year anniversary of the One in Five Minds advocacy campaign, on Tuesday, February 25, at the Valero Energy Corporation headquarters. The title of the event was One in Five Minds Presents: A Forum on Mental Health Care Funding for Texas Children.

Keynote speaker Justice Luz Elena Chapa led the way with a moving story about her brother and how her family responded to his struggle with schizophrenia in her address to over 200 mental health professionals, advocates, community leaders and other concerned citizens.

If you weren’t able to join us, or watch the NOWCastSA live stream of the event, we invite you to watch the replay by clicking below. The replay includes an introduction from Clarity Child Guidance Center President & CEO Fred Hines, and the powerful story from Justice Chapa.

The replay will also include insight from our panel of mental health experts, moderated by The Texas Tribune CEO and Editor in Chief, Evan Smith. Their conversation and the audience questions that followed shed light on the current state of mental health care funding for Texas children – and what’s next!

Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in this important conversation about continuing the campaign to increase mental health treatment for kids and their families.

Thank you,
One in Five Minds
