crisis services

The crisis services department at Clarity Child Guidance Center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to assess kids who are experiencing a behavioral health crisis.

A licensed behavioral health professional will complete a full assessment with a focus on safety.  After consulting a psychiatrist, they will make a recommendation for services.  This recommendation is based on the presenting symptoms and history.  The more information you can provide the better!

Walk-ins are welcome.  However, there may be a wait depending on the number of kids who need assessment.  Evenings are often busy and have longer wait times. You can call 210-582-6412 to check availability.

I am very impressed with the quality of care and the range of services offered at Clarity Child Guidance Center. The doctors and staff made something scary into a positive life-changing experience.

when does my child qualify for inpatient treatment?

when does my child qualify for inpatient treatment?

Kids admitted for inpatient treatment generally pose an immediate threat to themselves or others. These kids are experiencing significant, distressing symptoms that require immediate care.

Treatment in our on-campus, inpatient hospital brings kids back to an appropriate level of safety and self-control. The goal is to discharge a child back to their family as quickly as it is safe to do so.

Inpatient treatment involves immediate evaluation, 24-hour nursing and physician attention, medication (if needed), and a plan for future treatment. Treatment also includes individual, group, and family counseling. All of our services are provided by a team of specially trained professionals.

Each child’s situation is different and every treatment program is individually structured to meet those specific needs. No matter which level of care your child requires, our staff will approach treatment with dignity, respect, and understanding, while working to assist your child in expressing their needs.

At admission, a certain amount of resistance is normal. Within a short period of time, most kids have a very positive reaction to the care they receive at Clarity.

Since we provide a lot of personal support and attention, we often see children overcome their negative feelings while they’re here.

does staying at a psychiatric center mean my child has a serious mental illness?

Clarity is a place of hope and healing. A stay at Clarity allows our medical staff to do an extensive assessment and plan for the appropriate care of your child.

Our goal is to help a child get to where they no longer need us!

Sometimes, it takes more than one stay; however, the care kids receive here often protects them from very harmful decisions and activities. Time at Clarity can be a great start for major changes in your child and family.

Kids generally need continued support from a therapist and/or psychiatrist after their stay. Clarity helps with next steps by providing useful information to your current medical provider. Also, we will assist you in finding other community resources for your child when needed.
