Alexander Rapp

Alex Rapp is an assistant vice president and leads a strategy and planning team in support of USAA’s Enterprise Chief Information Officer (ECIO). This includes the chief of staff function, change management, IT analytics & insights, media/design, and workforce planning and engagement teams.

Prior to this role, Rapp was chief of staff to the CEO and led a team in support of USAA’s CEO and Board of Directors. This included planning and executing CEO management routines, Board operations, staff operations, CEO member relations, and internal and external events.

As a member of the Corporate Communications team, Rapp led External and Crisis Communications that included media relations, issues management, crisis and reputation management, public affairs, digital influencers, awards and recognition, and executive communications for CFO, CRO, CLO and Audit. His first role at USAA was serving as the communications officer for two senior executives.

Rapp joined USAA in January 2013 from Hill+Knowlton Strategies (H+K), formerly Public Strategies, Inc., and has more than 30 years of experience in communications, public affairs and marketing across several sectors including energy, telecom, consumer packaged goods and IT outsourcing. While at H+K, Rapp served as a member of the senior leadership team in the Dallas office and was responsible for client management, operations and business development. Rapp helped lead the firms’ public affairs and corporate communications efforts for several large, established clients.

Prior to H+K, Rapp held several leadership roles in marketing and communications at TXU Energy, Verizon Communications, Dr Pepper/Seven Up, and Information Resources Inc.

Rapp earned a BS in business from Babson College and an MBA from Southern Methodist Univ. He is active in the community and is a graduate of Leadership San Antonio (LSA) for Class 40 and was on the LSA Steering Committee for Class 45. He and his wife Molly are the proud parents of two children.
