Clarity Child Guidance Center is the only nonprofit mental health treatment facility specializing in children (ages 3 to 17) in South Texas. Our staff of children’s mental health professionals is the largest in the region, allowing us to provide a full continuum of care on our 8-acre campus in the San Antonio Medical Center.

Every July, Clarity hosts an educational conference on children’s mental health called Claritycon. Attendees earn professional development certificates.
Our origination was originally founded in 1886 as an orphanage called the “Protestant Home for Destitute Children.” After over a century of growth and learning, we became “Clarity Child Guidance Center” in 2010.
When a child is in crisis, Clarity works with families to get much needed treatment regardless of their ability to pay.
Our HEROES Campaign is fundraising to build 15 more individual practitioner rooms, which will add an estimated 4,500 more outpatient appointments per year.
First Step is a one-time, outpatient consultation for families who know their child is struggling but are not sure what help they need or where to get it.
The Next Step Center provides children with rapid access to transitional outpatient therapy appointments.
Across our 10 buildings, Clarity is home to a 24/7 crisis services department, a 5-unit (74 bed) inpatient hospital, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), outpatient services, care coordination, a dining hall, three basketball courts, a rock wall, a swimming pool, art therapy, music therapy, yoga, a playground, a clothing closet, a food pantry, and a pharmacy.
