What is acute care treatment - Clarity Child Guidance Center

What is acute care treatment?

The term “acute” means severe or intense. Acute care treatment is designed for children or adolescents at risk of doing harm to themselves or others. The treatment takes place in our inpatient hospital and brings them back to an appropriate level of safety and self-control. Acute care treatment involves immediate evaluation, 24-hour nursing and physician attention, medication (if needed), and a plan for future treatment. The treatment also includes individual, group, and family counseling. A typical stay ranges in length from 4 to 10 days depending on the individual diagnosis and the progress of the child.
