Dr. Sharen Denson, DMSc, MPAS, PA-C is a dedicated, goal-oriented, performance-focused professional and United States Army Lieutenant Colonel with 30 years of military service. She’s a nationally certified Family Medicine Physician Assistant with over 18 years of patient care experience. An expert in leading, teaching, motivating Soldiers and management teams. Skilled in TRICARE, Government, Emergency Medicine, Operational Planning, and Team Building. Recognized throughout her career for improving procedures, training personnel and ensuring high quality results. Skilled in using educational activities as a means of developing and implementing superior action plans. Advanced knowledge of patient care, performance, commitment, and distributing logistical assets. Experienced in developing a robust record of success in achieving organizational objectives and meeting scheduled deadlines.
She has deployed twice to Iraq and earned multiple awards. Among her awards and honors are two Bronze Star Medals, four Meritorious Service medals, and the Army Medical Department Order of Military Medical Merit. She is also a recipient of The Army Surgeon General’s 9A Proficiency Designator, the highest recognition for professional excellence in the Army Medical Department. Candidates nominated for the honor must be eminently qualified to chair a department, division or service, or have attained full professional status and national prominence in their field.
Sharon earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in 2003 and a Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2004, both from the University of Nebraska. She recently completed a Doctorate of Medical Science (DMSc) Degree from the University of Lynchburg in September 2020. Sharon is Membership Director for the Society of Army Physician Assistants (SAPA), active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., active member of Junior League of San Antonio, active mom/member of San Antonio Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and NCCPA Ambassador for 2020-21.
She is married to SGM (Ret) Scott Denson, MA, DML, MPM and they are the proud parents of a beautiful and very active 12 year old daughter name Emalee. Sharon’s motto is, “I have one of the best professions in the world and I wake up every day to serve in the best Army in the world.”
