Ways To Give

Ways you can help

Gifts of cash

Monetary gifts provide maximum flexibility for addressing the care and treatment of the children at Clarity Child Guidance Center and for necessary operating funds. Cash gifts may also be designated for specific projects or capital needs. Gifts of cash are deductible up to 50% of your adjusted gross income. A pledge to make a gift, however, may only be deductible in the year the pledge payment is made.

Healing Young Minds & Hearts Society

Member donors commit to contribute a minimum of $1,000 per year for five years.

Memorial or Honor gifts

Memorials are discretely acknowledged to the family of the deceased. Honor gifts are made in honor of a friend, work associate, or loved one to celebrate a special occasion, or just to let them know they're important.

In-kind gifts

In-kind gifts are contributions of goods or services, other than cash grants.

Planned gifts

Our long history of providing at-risk children with loving, professional care has been possible because of the many individuals who made provisions for our organization in their will or estate plan. Your decision to make a planned gift is a personal statement about what you care about and who you are. Making a provision for Clarity Child Guidance Center in your will can improve the lives of countless children, achieve your financial goals and leave a lasting legacy of generosity. Types of planned gifts include:

Bequests

A bequest is a very simple and an uncomplicated way to help provide for the future charitable programs that are of special interest to you. A bequest may be of a specific sum, a percentage of the donor’s estate, or the residue of the estate. A bequest may consist of cash, securities, life insurance proceeds, real estate or other property. A bequest may be made through a will or through a living trust, and should be directed as follows:

I give and bequeath to Clarity Child Guidance Center, a non-profit 501(c)(3) treatment center for children and youth, located in San Antonio, TX, the sum of $____ or ____ percentage of my residuary estate or the following described property: ______, to be used for general purposes.

Stock gifts

Your appreciated stock (held for more than one year) is an excellent gift. You receive a charitable tax deduction for the value of the stock at transfer and avoid capital gains tax.

Property

Gifts of personal property, such as works of art, furniture, equipment or collections, must be used for a purpose related to our charitable mission. In considering whether to accept a gift of real estate, Clarity Child Guidance Center would determine if the property is marketable so that it can be sold, or whether it should be kept as an investment.

Life Insurance

By naming Clarity Child Guidance Center as an irrevocable beneficiary of your life insurance policy, you can make a sizable gift at relatively low cost and your annual premiums can be tax-deductible. Clarity Child Guidance Center may also be designated as a secondary or contingent beneficiary of a policy if you wish to keep control of the policy during your lifetime.

Life Income Gifts

If you wish to make a substantial gift but you still wish to receive some income for the property, you might consider a charitable trust in which you irrevocably transfer cash or property to a trustee. The trustee in turn will distribute a certain percentage or amount of the annual income available from the assets back to you or Clarity Child Guidance Center. Those payments can continue for your life, or for a specified term of years. The remainder interest in the property would then pass to us. You would be entitled to an income tax deduction for the value of that charitable remainder interest, based on the number and ages of the life income beneficiaries and the percentage of income payments you and the trustee agreed upon. Types include Charitable Gift Annuities (CGA), Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRT) and Charitable Lead Trusts (CLT).

Making a significant gift to Clarity Child Guidance Center -- or to any charity for that matter -- requires great care. Before you make any decisions, make an appointment with your trusted financial advisor or attorney.
