Merger Announcement
A message from Fred Hines, Clarity Child Guidance Center President and CEO.
I am pleased to announce that Southwest Mental Health Center (SMHC) and Child Guidance Center of San Antonio (CGC) have joined forces to become Clarity Child Guidance Center. We have combined our decades of experience to combat the children’s mental health crisis facing our community. Our goal is to provide families throughout South Texas greater access to children’s mental health services.
We chose the name Clarity for our new organization because clarity is what we want to bring to anyone looking for answers to a child’s behavioral or emotional problems. We often hear frustrated parents complain about long wait lists for appointments, poor communication, and a constant rotation of treatment staff. We feel that greater access to care is the solution.
Clarity Child Guidance Center now has the region’s largest staff of psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, nurses, and mental health counselors specializing in the treatment of children ages 3-17. This puts us in a unique position to meet the overwhelming need for mental health care in San Antonio and its surrounding areas.
By combining our strengths, the children we serve will benefit from a greater continuity of care between our inpatient and outpatient services. Our treatment team is committed to open communication with each other and most importantly, with parents. We are here to help parents every step of the way.
We have big plans for our future. In particular, we are working toward increasing the number of treatment centers we have throughout the entire region. We know that families need convenient locations that are close to home and this will allow us to reach more children who desperately need our help.
Over the next few months we will be rolling out a new communications campaign to re-introduce ourselves to the community. We want parents to know they are not alone when they are faced with behavior they just don’t understand.
